Stig Holm’s RV-6 | Stromsund, Sweden RV-6 #21007
Congratulations to Stig on his new RV-6! He writes:
The RV6 #21007 finally became airborne 05/27/2025 at Hallviken airfield, Stromsund, Sweden (probably the slowest built RV in the world). Project started 1990 but was eventually halted for quite a few years when I was flying Boeings (727, 737 500; 700 and 800 for a danish company, Sterling). A couple of years ago I then decided to finish the project. First flight was totally uneventful, the aircraft flew absolutely straight, hands off. As the engine had a complete overhaul this first flight was made at 75% just to get the piston rings to start getting seated. All engine parameters were fine and the aircraft, without landing gear fairings and pants made 140KIAS at 75% (24” MAP/2400rpm). Looks promising for the future.Facts:
- Engine is an O-320 E2D with another accessory housing for mechanical fuel pump and ignition is dual Lightspeed II electronic ignition.
- Propeller is a Fred Felix 68 x 69 which obviously is the correct pitch.
- I prefer round dials over glass cockpit (even after 8000 hours in Boeings) but the vacuum system instruments will be replaced by a couple of uavionix AV-30, just to keep the original classic round-dial look. Better for aerobatics as well.
- Basically it is a no-frills aircraft except for the Volvo S-60 seats which are very comfortable.
Only basic avionics, COM and ADS-B capable transponder.- Nav is Foreflight feeding an iphone on the dash. That’s all.
Keep it simple! I totally love the feel of this marvelous aircraft!
