Pat Geyer’s RV-7 | Metamora, MI RV-7 #74657

Congrats to Pat Geyer on his RV-7!

I was in the process of restoring and RV-6A but found many structural issues due to the method of build and was looking for a kit that someone was abandoning. While at Oshkosh my wife, Mary, and I went to the Van’s display. Mary suggested that I should just start a new RV-7 kit. I asked if she realized what that would mean. She said yes but I am not so sure she did. We began the build in a house we have in Pittsburgh, PA as we were working there. Six years later in November of 2023 we finally moved the fuselage on the gear to Metamora, MI for completion and paint. We moved the project in April of 2025 to Dupont-Lapeer Airport (D95). I received the airworthiness certificate through Tony Kirk, a previous Van’s employee. Tony is a very careful DAR and I was happy to have him perform the inspection. We looked for a nice day to fly and I took off at 9:00 am in a calm wind. The plane flew great. The landing was a bit fast for me as my other plane is an Aeronca Champ 7AC.
