Megan Kraynak’s RV-10 | North Little Rock, AR RV-10 #41838
Another RV takes flight—congratulations, Megan!
Flying the RV-10 has been such a blast! From start to finish, the build took my husband and I seven years (2018-2025), but actual build time was 3.5 years (an overseas assignment close to the end of the build put work at stoppage for a while!). The first flight was on 16 February and Phase 1 complete on 16 May, with the first family cross country on 18 June! The entire journey has been exciting, frustrating, enlightening, confusing, and rewarding all at the same time.
A huge thank you to the NLR EAA Chapter 165, The Bulldogs, and especially Bill Schlatterer, who has been the most amazing mentor and friend.
For those about to do your first flight, congratulations. Don’t worry if you don’t feel the happiness and get the RV grin everyone talks about the first time – I didn’t. I was so anxious from engine start to shutdown! But I promise you this – lift off on your second flight…that’s the real magic moment.
