Homer Phillips’ RV-14A | Moriarty, NM RV-14A #140313
Congratulations to Homer on completing his first flight with his RV-14A. He shares:
I started this project in October 2016 and after only 7 years 9 months, and 3108 labor hours (weekends only, slow-build), N861FM took to the skies for the first time. It is a solid flyer with no bad tendencies. It flies straight hands off, runs beautifully, has very benign stall characteristics, and is FAST even without wheel pants! My chase plane was an RV-6A and I had to slow down for them to pace me.
First flight was uneventful on a cool, clear, and calm day here in New Mexico at a field elevation of 6200 feet. Density altitude was a bit higher. Only two very minor squawks, both corrected after only a few minutes post-flight.
Can’t wait to finish Phase 1 testing so I can cruise the lower 48 (and maybe Alaska and the Bahamas too!). What a great airplane!
