Daniel Snow’s RV-14A | Humboldt, TN RV-14A #141089

Daniel Snow, one of our many “repeat offenders,” just flew his RV-14A. We’ll let him take it from here:

After selling the RV-9A that I built and flew 10 years earlier, I swore that I would never build another airplane. But like many RV builders, I missed the excitement of completing a wing, a fuselage, or other aluminum structure. So, when my understanding wife gave the go-ahead, I wasted no time ordering the first three kits at EAA AirVenture 2021.

Three years later, at 5:30 am on our wedding anniversary, that same supportive wife stood on the ramp with hatchet, fire extinguisher, and radio, watching as our baby leaped into the air. As expected, N814D (the RV-9A was N214D) took off, flew, and landed with no issues. I have no regrets painting the plane before final assembly, as a finished plane just adds to the pride and joy of that first flight. Although I’ve repeated myself by saying that I will never build another plane, I can feel my hands starting to get restless.
