Barry Doman’s RV-12 | Melbourne, Australia RV-12 (original) #120981

Barry Doman’s RV-12 flew for the first time. Here’s more:

Nervous and excited all in one. It’s been ready since last week from my local SAAA AP visit followed by a propellor balance the next day, weather and work got in the way until today. Perfect northern Victorian day, zero cloud no wind, and 21 degrees Celsius.

At the piano keys and full power, it shot off like a rocket. I might as well been behind the aircraft. Finally got it under some semblance of control only to realize it was climbing for the sky. Once back to my senses, trimmed and climbed to 3,000 at 75 and did the initial tests per the PaP flight 1. No issues and flew beautifully. Came back and joined the circuit (YMNG runway 36) and set it up for a circuit followed by being high and then floating but squeaked it on.
