Chris Hrabe’s RV-9A | Eden Prairie, Minnesota RV-9A #91756

Congratulations to Chris on his new RV-9A! He writes:

Dear Folks at Van’s,

I’m pleased to announce that the thirteen-year build of my RV-9A, S/N 91756, N111CT was recently finished, and the first flight was performed on January 11th with the very capable Mr. Tom Berge at the controls. The flight went quite well and Tom executed a perfect first landing in spite of a heavy left wing.

I’ve equipped her for day/night VFR operations with a Lycoming IO-320-D1A and an MT Propeller MTV-11-C composite c/s propeller (both thru Van’s), a Tanis preheat system (unheated hangar in Minnesota), a nifty two panel Garmin system from Steinair with the usual goodies, and a beautiful full interior from Classic Aero Designs. I’ve also added a few extras like the tip-up canopy latch, roll trim knob, fuel vents, and rudder pedal extensions from Darwin at JDair.com, and main and nose wheel bearing modifications, complete crankcase breather/oil separator/bypass system, and Nose Job 2 from Allan at AntiSplat Aero.

She tipped the scales at 1104 lbs. with the empty CG at 76.2 inches aft of datum.

In the time since the first flight the heavy wing has been remedied, all of the G3X post-installation calibrations and set-ups have been completed, and I finished the first round of polishing. And more importantly, I again worked with Tom Berge on transition training first in his beautiful RV-7A, and then together in my fledgling. Yesterday my transition training concluded with my first solo flight in my new aircraft.

It has been a great project, now on to flying and adventure!
