Changes to Lycoming Engine Order Forms and Configuration Options

Lycoming and Van’s Aircraft have instituted a handful of changes to the ordering configuration options for Lycoming experimental and Thunderbolt engines. These changes are based on historically typical ordering patterns, and are intended to improve efficiency and therefore minimize costs associated with making changes to orders.

Orders will not longer be accepted using paper or PDF forms. All orders will be processed using our online web-based order forms.

For Lycoming standard experimental engines, customers may now order engines configured with:

  • Two standard magnetos
  • Two Lycoming EIS units
  • Two E-Mags (except on 6-cylinder)

For Lycoming Thunderbolt experimental engines, customers may now choose from:

  • No ignition system and no fuel system installed
  • Dual Lycoming EIS ignition combined with either AVSTAR or Airflow Performance fuel system (where applicable)
  • Dual E-Mag ignition combined with either AVSTAR or Airflow Performance fuel system (where applicable)

The applicable available engines will be displayed on the order forms on the Van’s Aircraft web site, based on the ignition and fuel system configuration chosen.
