So, you're ready to order your RV-8/8A kit!
We're just about as excited as you are! This form will allow you to choose which kit(s) you want to order and to specify which options you want as well. You can also use this page to choose various options and see the cost, which will update each time you make a choice. Don't worry - you are not ordering anything until you click the "Submit Order" button at the end of the form.
Note: We offer our "preview" plans on a USB stick-type drive (for a charge) as well as on our web store for anyone who creates a store account and registers their kit serial number on the store (all of which is free). If you are ordering a kit, you'll find an option on this form page to add the USB plans to your kit purchase. If you are looking to order only the USB plans, please click here to find them on our web store, where you can order them as a stand-alone item.
When you fill out this form, it calculates the estimated total price of your kit based on the assumption that when your order is executed, there will be no changes. Placing an order and submitting your deposit establishes the "place in line" for your kit, as we typically provide kits and parts on a first-come, first-served basis. The 25% deposit is calculated based on the price calculated on this form.
When you complete and submit this order form, our Kit Order Department will receive your order and will email you a confirmation. That email will include instructions directing you to reach out to our Kits Team to arrange any details as well as the collection of your 25% deposit if you have not already included it on this form. They'll also be able to help you with any requested adjustments and to discuss any other questions you might have.
Our latest kit prices and lead times can be viewed here.

Finishing Kit
In order to send you the correct spinner, we need you to let us know what propeller you plan to use. If you dont need a spinner from Van's, choose "No spinnner" in the list below.
Please specify the engine you intend to install below, so we can provide the correct engine cowl for your build.
Note: You are not ordering your engine on this form. Rather, you are specifying which engine will be used so we can ship you the proper finishing kit parts for your configuration. Please use the engine order forms available on this site when you are ready to order an engine from Van's.
Note: Van’s has no suitable off-the-shelf cowls or firewall fwd kits for the following engines on the RV-8/8A.
You will either need to provide an alternative or make manual modifications to our stock kit components to accommodate these engines.
Defining Your Engine
Other engine suppliers produce a wide variety of engines that may or may not be physically compatible with parts and accessories used on Lycoming models.
To provide us the information we need, you must complete this ENGINE INDENTIFICATION section with items that describe your engine. Without this information we cannot accept or process your order. If you are installing an engine that is not compatible with Lycoming style mounts or cowl, you may delete these items for credit. The exact amount of the credit will be determined by Van’s.
It is the customer’s responsibility to provide accurate information. Van’s Aircraft, Inc. is not responsible for costs incurred replacing or returning incorrectly ordered parts.

Note: Dynafocal 2 (D2) mounts are no longer being manufactured
Use this option only if you are adding USB plans to a kit purchase. If you wish to purchase only the USB plans, please follow this link to place your order.
Note: Preview plans are a required purchase before beginning construction. The preview plans contain important introductory and planning information which the builder needs to be aware of before starting on the first kit. Electronic plans, delivered on a small USB "thumb drive," may be purchased for that purpose. Theses are provided in a searchable, printable PDF format that can be viewed on a variety of devices.
Please let us know if you plan to pick the kit up yourself at the Van's factory, or if we will be shipping it to you. You may add any related notes to the "Kit Order Notes" input field, below.
Please provide any notes, details or requests that will help us understand and process your order. For example, if you'll be picking up from Van's youself, or if you're using a special shipping service and don't need crating, you have additions or deletions you wish to request from a kit, etc.
Crating, Handling and Prep Fees
Note: Van's no longer charges a separate crating fee, as we've determined our costs are very close to identical regardless of how kits are packaged, shipped or handled.
Customer Information

If you choose "Yes" here, we will submit your information to EAA so they can sign you up for a new membership. You're eligible as long as you have not been an active EAA member in the previous 24 months.
Builders who have completed and registered/flown an RV airplane in the past are eligible for our "repeat offender" discount. Please provide the below information if you've built one or more RVs in the past.
