Why the RV-12iST is the right trainer for today’s schools.
- Very low operating costs compared to legacy trainers.
- Modern EFIS instrumentation makes the RV-12iST a TAA and the perfect entry for students interested in commercial flying careers.
- Responsive yet docile handling is appreciated by students and instructors alike.
- Low-wing configuration with large canopy provides ummatched in-flight visibility.
- All major airframe components are made in America, improving availability and reducing delays.
- Exceptional useful load: With 400 lb. of student and instructor, you can carry 5.2 hours worth of fuel. With a 450 lb. cabin load, still carry 3 hr of fuel.
- The SLSA RV-12iS is powered by a Rotax 912iS Sport 100 hp engine. These rugged engines have not become the world-wide standard in light sport aircraft by accident. Extended real world experience has shown it to be durable, reliable, and economical with maintenance availability worldwide. It can be run on either unleaded autogas or 100LL.
- Full FADEC engine management allows students to focus on flying.
Glass Panel
The RV-12iST comes standard with a two-screen Garmin G3X Touch EFIS that pilots and flight instructors love because it’s easy to use and is the “industry standard” for glass-panel systems in light aircraft. Also standard is the Garmin XXX comm radio, GTN650Xi IFR-approved GPS and full two-axis autopilot with GXX 5XX control panel. Also part of the standard package is a Mode S transponder with ADS-B In and Out capabilities to provide traffic and free weather on both G3X displays.
Four Stroke, Fuel Injected Rotax Power
The 100 hp four-stroke Rotax 912 series has become the most widely used engine in the world in Light Sport class aircraft. And for good reason — it’s proven itself in all kinds of conditions, all over the world. It’s designed to operate on unleaded auto fuel. The Rotax 912iS Sport fuel-injected engine is computer-controlled for maximum efficiency and performance, which increases performance in all regimes and is especially valuable at higher operating altitudes. A gearbox reduction drive turns the prop in the most efficient RPM range.
